Shopping in Limassol is a pleasure whether it's traditional and handmade goods amongst the quaint, cobbled streets behind the seafront or along Makarios Avenue, where serious shoppers will be more at home with a combination of high street stores and prestigious boutiques.
The tourist centre of Potamos Yermasoyia has a variety of bars, restaurants, shops and cafes; after all, the locals are known for their fun-loving character and are always ready to mingle with the tourists and party!
The grounds at Limassol Castle down near the old port, house the Medieval Museum of Cyprus with numerous interesting exhibits, and is also famously known to be the spot where Richard the Lionheart married Queen Beregaria and crowned her Queen of England in 1191.
A gateway to the island due to its central position, the surrounding picturesque villages are easily accessible from Limassol. The fertile foothills of the Troodos mountains are where most of the island's grapes are grown. This is the centre of the wine making industry; so much so that every September a festival is held to celebrate the wine and is a major event on the island.

Kolossi Castle

Kourion
A Greco-Roman amphitheatre, Kourion dates from the 2nd century BC and is still used for performances today with seating for 3,500 people.
Winery Tours
Producing hundreds of different wines, brandies, liqueurs and sherries, visitors can enjoy a tipple or two at one of the four main wineries in Limassol.
Kykko Monastery
One of the most impressive monasteries on the Island, Kykko is high in the Troodos mountains and also houses the best museum of religious art in Cyprus.
